Deals + Steals Vol. 2

Since I moved to North Carolina it seems that everyone has a mountain or beach retreat that belongs to either family or friends. North Carolinians are blessed to live so close to beautiful mountains and beaches, but this week's deals + steals is focused on the mountain retreat -- seems appropriate given that we're in the midst of November, falling leaves and cooling temps.

My in-law's mountain retreat inspired this week's picks, all found on Etsy & Ebay. I found this fabulous leather lounger & ottoman for only $175 on Etsy at at1stsight.

Pair this retro lounger with the camp stools & pillows covered in vintage Pendleton Blankets from RobinCottage and the layers start to come together.

It's just not a cabin without a sheepskin or two and my favorites are from Ecopelts on Ebay. They have a range of long haired Mongolian and natural colored British Sheepskins like these.  Layer them on top of other rugs like the Turkish Kilim below, drape over a chair, under a camp stool or beside the bed.

If you love vintage rugs, especially Kilims, Ebay is the place to shop -- trust me. I found this beauty which is slightly larger than 7x10 for only $249 from turkish-kilims-rugs on Ebay. These colors would be perfect with the lounger, vintage Pendletons and Sheepskins.

Turkish Kilim $249

Finally, use these vintage camp plates on your table (also from RobinCottage on Etsy) , throw some Forsythia (or another flowering branch) in a vase and your rustic table it set!

I know not everyone has time to scour Etsy or Ebay -- that's why you have me! You can keep up with all my favorite shops on Etsy without having to search the sight yourself, by following me. From jewelry to original art, you'd be surprised what you can find online and at much better prices than the big box stores.

Weekly Deals + Steals

I cannot lie, I love a good bargain. If something looks good, I don't care where it comes from or the name on the tag, especially when it comes to accessories for the home and seasonal apparel. I know I'll want to switch things up and I don't want to feel badly about it when I think of the price tag attached.

This week is all about entertaining in style and on a dime.

I love Target. I told you, I'm not too proud. The new Threshold line is full of affordable and truly stylish accent pieces like this Wood & Brass Finish Bar Cart ($130) and Six Bottle Wine Rack ($25) in a brass finish that actually looks expensive.

When I'm in a pickle and I need an interesting & affordable serving piece, I always run to World Market. I love keeping my table organic & crisp with white serving pieces and touches of warm wood and they always have something I can use like these Rectangular Tasting Trays and Mini Appetizer Spoons.

I could go on and on with pics of affordable goodies I've found around town, but these should help you check a few of your Holiday Entertaining needs off your checklist.

Each week I'll be showing off all the affordable goodies I've found for your home and Christmas shopping list. I promise to keep it accessible, affordable and of course, stylish.

White Hot

White's always hot . . . even after labor day. Don't get me wrong, I love color and texture but I'm constantly drawn to the clean, modern idea of simply white.

As I was scouring Etsy for one-of-a-kind finds I collected images of a few of my recent faves like this Vintage Moroccan Pouf from BoutiqueMaroc.

I'm pretty sure I need this one, as our current floor pouf has been claimed by the dogs and has seen better days.

I fell in love with these Stoneware Walnut Shells from madebymanos, made from bone china and real gold. They are so delicate, but would be perfect for salt & pepper or to hold rings and such.

I've been on the hunt for the perfect dog bed -- one that won't have its guts ripped out so easily, as I think we are on cheap-dog-bed number four now. This one from ModPet fits the bill and I think our Boston's would look pretty foxy chillin here.

I remain of the persuasion that white bedding is the most practical. With a messy husband and spoiled dogs, the promise of bleach is the only thing that keeps me sane at times. These Arrow screen-printed pillow cases from branchhandmade will add a little style to our plain-jane white bedding.

Etsy never disappoints. Whether I'm shopping for myself or a client, it's my first destination for unique and handmade items for the home. Turkish rugs, original art, and other awesome accessories - whatever it is, I know where to find it.

Looking Forward

Did I really just see Fall Holiday Decor at my local big box retailer? I mean, I'm still basking in the summer sunlight and oppressive heat.

Nonetheless, football season is upon us (hurray), the fall look-books are out and though I hate to admit it, they haven't been lost on my sun-bathing body. I may have just made my first fall wardrobe purchase - a perfect pair of black suede booties.

Here's to clinging onto the last bits of summer. . .

Not sure what to do now that you've cut up all of that watermelon? This watermelon margarita from www.marthastewart.com is heavenly.

Now that you've got a cold refreshing beverage enjoy a lovely salad (before the cold hits and all you want is meat, potatoes & cheese). This one from the Proud Italian Cook is perfection.

Now that dinner's done, go find a soothing spot, close your eyes somewhere in the sun and dream on . . . summer's not over yet.

Summer Breeze

Yes, I'm back in the saddle again . . . Starting your own business is difficult and it takes a lot of time to do the hard work. I'm trying to figure out how to manage my time and fit it all in and unfortunately the blog has taken a back seat, but not any longer - SpaceCurated is back for good;)

I've been playing tons of volleyball lately and it's reminded me of so many things I love about the summer - The beach, the salt water, the sand in my toes and the sun in my hair. I feel like summer's my season, you know? I get to be more carefree and casual and nearly barefoot for four months. Fantastic. Like this dress from RVCA. It can go from beach cover up to the perfect dinner dress - a breezy & casual companion.

Layer some amazing amethyst necklaces like these from Etsy and I'm all set. No need to fuss with scarves, cardigans and other messy layers.

I have a small obsession with yummy bath products and our pool keeps lots of guests visiting. I love to fill the bathroom with interesting and yummy soaps and lotions like these SoapRocks I found at Slate Interiors  and Fresh's Hesperides body lotion.

I love my home in the summer. I can get away with mixing colors and patterns in much bolder way. I love these batik pillows I had made for the shop.

The sun on my shoulders, an icy libation in hand . . . yes, summer is my time.
